Not all opportunities for speaking should be taken.
Reading:

Luke 23:1-25

Some questions shouldn’t be answered.

Some explanations shouldn’t be given.

Even in the face of false accusations.

Jesus modeled this in Herod’s palace:

“Then he questioned with him in many words; but he answered him nothing” (Luke 23:9).

I wish I had the wisdom to know when to respond and when to hold my peace.

Some of my missed opportunities haunt me. At times, those opportunities were for silence, but I spoke. At other times, the opportunities were for speaking, but I kept quiet.

Will I ever learn? Will I ever be wise?

“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him” (James 1:5).

Help me!
