Reading:

James 4:1-8

We sure do hear a lot about all kinds of conflicts — personal, congregational, national, international.

Wars and rumors of wars and expectations of wars — collisions of interests and agendas and rights and plans popping up everywhere.

What’s with that?

Well, in this blog I don’t attempt to speak much to what’s happening in the world among the unredeemed. So…what’s with these things taking place in and among God’s people?

From whence come wars and fighting among you?
come they not hence,
even of your lusts that war in your members?

Ye fight and war, yet ye have not,
because ye ask not.

Ye ask, and receive not,
because ye ask amiss,
that ye may consume it upon your lusts.

The Scriptures say in James 4:7,8,10 -- Submit yourselves therefore to God
from James 4:7,8,10

Let the brother of low degree rejoice
in that he is exalted.

But the rich,
in that he is made low….

James 1:9-16

What’s with that?

Why should a rich person rejoice at losing his riches?

Why should a well-to-do individual rejoice at becoming indigent?

Why should anyone rejoice at being humiliated?
