Reading:
Proverbs 16:12-22

Read this and be warned, Mark:

“Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall” (18).

I knew that then. I know that now.

So why is pride still such a temptation?!

Knowing isn’t enough.

I need the Lord to continually renew a right spirit within me.

And I need to purposefully do those things which put pride and self to death.

“Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud” (19).

Reading:
Proverbs 16:1-11

I was asked a question yesterday afternoon.

I hardly knew what to say.

I hate that.

But I hate even worse to forget this:

“The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the LORD” (1).

Hopefully, the next time I don’t know what to say, I will remember to call on the Lord for direction.

In fact, I hope I remember that even when I know what to say!
