A message of hope and peace for those whose minds are fixed on God: 'My peace I give unto you...let not your heart be troubled.'

I read this a few minutes ago and thought of Them and Them. And me.

Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee. —Isaiah 26:3

Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee; he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved. -Psalm 55:22

I will trust, and not be afraid: for the Lord JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation. -Isaiah 12:2

Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? -Matthew 8:26

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. -Philippians 4:6-7

In quietness and in confidence shall be your strength. -Isaiah 30:15

The effect of righteousness [shall be] quietness and assurance for ever. -Isaiah 32:17

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. -John 14:27

Peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come. -Revelation 1:4

She said she is thankful for pain that drives her to God. Wow!

At our congregation’s morning Thanksgiving Day service, one sister stood and as part of her testimony declared that she’s thankful for pain that drives her to God.

Wow! 😯 Amazingly, I believe she actually meant that. And even more amazingly, I think I understand what she means…and I think I’m disposed to agree with her.

I remembered that again when I read this early this morning:

It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes. —Psalm 119:71

Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered. -Hebrews 5:8

We suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. -Romans 8:17,18

He knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold. My foot hath held his steps, his way have I kept, and not declined. -Job 23:10,11

Thou shalt remember all the way which the Lord thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no. Thou shalt also consider in thine heart, that, as a man chasteneth his son, so the Lord thy God chasteneth thee. Therefore thou shalt keep the commandments of the Lord thy God, to walk in his ways, and to fear him. -Deuteronomy 8:2,5,6
