Reading:
Matthew 8:23-27

Not, “No faith” — little faith. (Those fellows did have something going for them, see?)

“And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish” (25).

They had sufficient faith to go to Jesus.

They had sufficient faith to awake Jesus.

They had sufficient faith to petition Jesus.

But their faith was still little: We perish.

Lord, increase my faith!

Oh, and by the way: notice two other things in this passage:

  • “His disciples followed him” (23).
  • “And his disciples came to him” (25).

It’s what disciples do!

Romans 6:11-23

“Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord” (11).

  • “Likewise reckon…” — how do I go about doing this today?
  • Is there any sin I’m allowing to dominate my thinking and doing?
  • Whose servant am I?
  • And with what kind of passion and energy?
  • What fruit am I bearing?
