To speak with nourishing, nurturing, feeding lips

I read in Proverbs 10 this morning. Here you have verses 18-21:

He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, is a fool.

In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise.

The tongue of the just is as choice silver: the heart of the wicked is little worth.

The lips of the righteous feed many: but fools die for want of wisdom.

When I speak, I want to speak truthfully and honorably, accurately and dependably (Proverbs 10:18).

When I speak, I want to know that I actually should be speaking (instead of sinning through and with too many words) (Proverbs 10:19).

When I speak, I want to speak with a wealth-dispensing tongue (Proverbs 10:20).

When routine and relationship do not seek God
Reading:

Psalm 53

I purpose to have and retain a heart that’s inclined after God.

That continues to be my ongoing aspiration and commitment. But if I do not cultivate the practice of purposefully seeking God — as both a matter of routine and a matter of relationship — I will certainly turn from Him.

“There is no God” (Psalm 53:1).

“To see if there any…that did seek God” (Psalm 53:2).

“They have not called upon God” (Psalm 53:4).

If I do not seek Him and if I do not call on Him, I will slide into denying His very existence. Continue reading
