A Bible acrostic by Noreen Roth, encouraging Christian steadfastness

Steadfastness -- a Bible acrostic by Noreen Roth

We live in times that try men’s souls — unsettled times, unsettling times. Society continues to wobble and shake, to shift and change.

God calls on His people to stand strong and stand fast.

Mom made up a Bible acrostic — read it, ponder it, and be blessed. Take courage and commit yourself to stand fast in the faith…

Stand fast in the Lord (Philippians 4:1).
They that wait upon the Lord (Isaiah 40:31).
Examine me oh Lord (Psalm 26:2).
And be renewed in the spirit of your mind (Ephesians 4:23).
Dead indeed unto sin (Romans 6:11).
Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:17).
Abstain from all appearance of evil (1 Thessalonians 5:22).
Set your affection on things above (Colossians 3:2).
To keep himself unspotted from the world (James 1:27).
Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure (2 Timothy 2:19).
End of all things is at hand (1 Peter 4:7).
Stand fast in the faith (1 Corinthians 16:13).
Stedfast, unmovable (1 Corinthians 15:58).

Many thanks, Mom! 🙂

I encourage you to read the full text of the verses Mom used for her acrostic in this post:

“Therefore, my brethren dearly beloved and longed for, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, my dearly beloved” (Philippians 4:1).

“But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint” (Isaiah 40:31).

“Examine me, O LORD, and prove me; try my reins and my heart” (Psalm 26:2).

“And be renewed in the spirit of your mind” (Ephesians 4:23).

“Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 6:11).

“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17).

“Abstain from all appearance of evil” (1 Thessalonians 5:22).

“Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth” (Colossians 3:2).

“Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world” (James 1:27).

“Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity” (2 Timothy 2:19).

“But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer” (1 Peter 4:7).

“Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong” (1 Corinthians 16:13).

“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord” (1 Corinthians 15:8).
