I was glad
when they said
unto me,
Let us go
into the house
of the Lord.

Psalm 122

Why should that make me glad?

  1. I have the option of going to God’s house.
  2. I don’t have to go by myself.
  3. Someone wants me to go with him.
  4. I matter at least that much to someone.

So…can I convey (“channel,” if you will) that kind of gladness to someone else?

You know. Mine. And yours.

I will lift up mine eyes
unto the hills,
from whence cometh my help.

My help cometh from the Lord,
which made heaven and earth.

Psalm 121

Some of the other translations I looked at have the third line as a question.

As the year begins, it is good for me to be reminded that all the help I need comes from God.

It is also good for me to reaffirm my belief in that.
