Reading:
Proverbs 12:1-14

“The wicked are overthrown, and are not: but the house of the righteous shall stand” (7).

When I think of “the house” of someone, I think of his family.

So this verse grabbed my attention in my reading this morning.

How blessed are those parents whose family is not overthrown!

Build your life and your marriage and your family on The Rock Christ Jesus, and your house shall stand.

Where has Jesus really and practically fit into my house-building project over the last 28 years?

If you’re just starting out on this kind of project, don’t mess it up!

Reading:
Proverbs 11:22-31

“As a jewel of gold in a swine’s snout, so is a fair woman which is without discretion” (22).

That’s how God sees her.

That’s how I want to see her.

She who uses her beauty to draw attention to herself is misusing her beauty.

She who enhances herself physically in an effort to increase her beauty and appeal succeeds in diminishing her inner charm and attractiveness.

May God bless the women who cultivate a modest, discreet spirit.
