Read the Sign You Have!

But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas.

Matthew 12:38-45; 16:1-4

When might I be stipulating some sort of special sign just for me?

Do I consider repentance something to which I need to be open?

How far would I go to find wisdom, instruction, direction, and discernment?

How far do I go?

When I “clean house” of the bad in my life, with what good do I replace it?

Does the sign of the prophet Jonas count for anything with me?

Or has the resurrection of Jesus become mere history to me?

Does God provide any other signs for the disciples of Jesus?

Discerning the Star

When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.

Matthew 2:10

Reading:

Matthew 2:7-9, 16-23

As the wise men, Herod wanted to find the Child, that One born King of the Jews:

“And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also” (Matthew 2:8).

The wise men wanted to worship the Child; Herod wanted war with the Child.

Is my spirit this season in worship of the Child or is it at war with the Child?

On this business of searching, consider this: the Child wanted to be found!

“When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was” (Matthew 2:9).

The Child indeed wanted to be God with us!

He still does.

I want to remember to acknowledge Him today.
