Despite what Jesus told them, Peter and the other disciples insisted that they would remain faithful and true to Him. They were certain even death could not cause them to deny and desert him.

Then this:

“And they all forsook him, and fled” (Mark 14:50).

And later, this:

“And Peter called to mind the word that Jesus said . . . . And when he thought thereon, he wept” (72).

After such good intentions, such bitter defeat.

They were so human.

Just like I am.

May God help me to be faithful to Him at all costs all the time.

I need that every day because each day brings its own opportunities to fail.

I couldn’t miss it in Mark 13!

“Take heed lest any man deceive you” (5).

“But take heed to yourselves” (9).

“But take ye heed: behold, I have foretold you” (23).

“Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is” (33).

“Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh…Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping.” (35, 36).

“And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch” (37).

Mark, beware what and whom you listen to!

Mark, be careful how you live!

Mark, pay attention to God!

Mark, live for Him!
