My faith has been put to the test.

And found weak and wanting.

So I am again “forced” to cry out to God for faithfulness and faith.

…The trying of your faith worketh patience.

…Ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally….

But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering.
For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea
driven with the wind and tossed.

For let not that man think
that he shall receive anything of the Lord.

James 1:1-8

Be Single in Focus

A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

James 1:8

Reading:

James 1:1-11

This, I understand:

“Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted” (James 1:9).

Makes sense to me.

But this next piece?

“But the rich, in that he is made low…” (James 1:10).

Help me out.

Does it mean the wealthy person should rejoice when his wealth parts company with him and he is left poor?

Then I have another question:

May verse 10 be rightly applied also to someone who is rich in gifts (for example, social poise or public speaking or service opportunities or spiritual discernment)?
