I read this last night before going to bed:

I would have you without carefulness. —I Cor. 7:32.

He careth for you. —The eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him.

O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him. The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the Lord shall not want any good thing. —Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? —Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Wow! Can you believe that?!

I admit to struggling against unbelief at times. No, I don’t mean that I think the Scriptures are untrue.

I simply mean that at times I have a hard time accepting that God intends for me to apply these verses to certain circumstances in my life.

I want to believe enough to tell God what He already knows: My requests, my needs.

I believe in the New Testament priesthood of the believers.

I also believe in New Testament leaders who watch for the souls of the flock.

Do those two Gospel realities have anything to do with the last section of Exodus 28:12 as shown below?

My state of heart this morning cries out for an Aaron. And that even though I believe in the continuing, unchanging priesthood of the Lord Jesus.

Thou shalt put the two stones upon the shoulders of the ephod for stones of memorial unto the children of Israel: and Aaron shall bear their names before the Lord. —Exo. 28:12.

Jesus . . . because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood. Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. —Him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory.

Seeing . . . that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not a high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace.

The beloved of the Lord shall dwell in safety by him: and the Lord shall cover him all the day long, and he shall dwell between his shoulders.

Should anyone be shouldering responsibility for me?

Or is that the wrong question?

I don’t think so. But it isn’t the only question I should be asking! There are others, one of which is this:

Whose names should I be bearing before for the Lord?
