“Oh, be careful little hands,” we used to sing. We also had stanzas about ears and eyes and feet and tongues.
That was the children’s version of yield your members as servants to righteousness. The adult version should include those members as well as every other member of our body.
What I look at — be it graphic or text — should reveal that my body is a living sacrifice, not that I am coddling the lusts of my flesh. “Oh, be careful little eyes…”
The way I use my fingers should point to that which is acceptable unto God. My fingers should write that which promotes righteousness unto holiness, not that which feeds the flesh and calls attention to the works of darkness.
Well, those thoughts were triggered by my reading this morning:
Walk in newness of life. -Romans 6:4.
As ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness. -Romans 6:19
I beseech you, . . . brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind. -Romans 12:1,2
If any man be in Christ he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. -2 Corinthians 5:17
In Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature. And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them, and mercy. -Galatians 6:15,16
This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind. -Ephesians 4:17
Ye have not so learned Christ; if so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus. Put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. -Ephesians 4:20,21,24
Daily Light on the Daily Path — August 5, Morning
I want to use my members — all of them — as would one who has been created in righteousness and true holiness. Maybe today I will succeed in areas where I’ve failed of late.
