Reading: Luke 9:18-42
Or embarrassed? Or humiliated? Or mortified?
“For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father’s, and of the holy angels” (26).
Jesus said He is the only way to the Father and to eternal life. In our day, that’s considered intolerant, insensitive, arrogant, narrow-minded, and who knows what else. Am I ever ashamed of Him and His words?
Jesus said (via the Apostle Paul) that women should cover their hair. Many consider that quaint, unnecessary, legalistic, and so forth. Am I ever ashamed of Him and His words?
Jesus said His kingdom is not of this world and His servants shouldn’t fight. A literal interpretation of that is quickly branded unpatriotic, cowardly, selfish, irresponsible, and more. Am I ever ashamed of Him and His words?
To answer all the questions, yes.
Unfortunately, I have had my moments in which I indeed have been ashamed to stand with Him. I thank Him for His forgiveness.
