2 Corinthians 4
God shined in my heart, driving away the darkness and bringing me into fellowship with Him.
Now that Gospel light must shine from me.
“But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost” (2 Corinthians 4:3).
How often do those who need it most miss the Gospel light . . . because it is so well hidden in my life?
“But we have this treasure in earthen vessels” (2 Corinthians 4:7).
The light of the Gospel is the treasure. The earthen vessel is my body. I must allow that light to shine!
“The life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body” (2 Corinthians 4:10).
“That the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh” (2 Corinthians 4:11).
“Can the world see Jesus when they look at your life?”
If not, who loses?
This issue troubles me a lot. Are we living today so that others can see Christ in us. Certainly a few are, but what about the bulk of us? The more time goes by in the Christian world, the less we seem separate from the world–really separate, I mean. Like putting a frog in cold water and gradually heating it, I fear that that is what’s happened to Christians. I’m afraid we’ve become numb to the “sameness” between us and the world.
