Desires. Do I ever have them! All kinds of them. Most of them are good; some, not. Some of them are very intense.
Groaning. Some of my groans are from aches, pains, and discomforts — spiritual, emotional, physical. Others come from my complaints and unmet desires.
Do I want anyone to know my desires and groanings? Some of them, sure. All of them, no.
“Lord, all my desire is before thee; and my groaning is not hid from thee” (Psalm 38:9).
Of course God knows. I’m just not conscious of that most of the time.
“For in thee, O LORD, do I hope: thou wilt hear, O Lord my God” (Psalm 38:15).
Of course God hears. So in my groaning and desiring, let me consciously (and even subconsciously) hope in Him.
