Some folks have been putting a lot of emphasis on “Speaking truth to power.”
That has its place, I’m sure. At least when it is presented as a personal witness to the spiritual need of the one in power.
But I know something that’s even better: Influencing power.
Personally, I think the leaders of China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea are dangerous men on a global scale.
I also think the leaders of Bolivia, Venezuela, Vietnam, and Cuba pose an ominous threat to God’s people.
And I’d have to say the same for leaders of Muslim countries such as Saudia Arabia.
I even view with particular alarm the potential rise to power by a leftist presidential candidate in Mexico.
Now listen to Proverbs 21:1.
“The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.”
God’s people can influence earthly political powers by appealing to heavenly Power.
So let’s do it!
