I see pictures of them on the Web, in the newspaper, and in magazines. But they are distant from me.

Various regional and international agencies send me infrequent brochures and letters informing me about them. But they are distant from me.

I even see them in real life in my travels locally and farther. Yet they remain distant to me.

Jesus said I would always have them with me.

The pillars of the early church gave the Apostle Paul instructions concerning them: “Remember the poor” (Galatians 2:10).

Jesus also said that remembering the poor is remembering Him.
