Early this morning.
I sat there, watching the fruit flies.
All three of them — hovering, flitting.
“What is their field of vision?” I wondered.

Thus the Fruit Fly Thought Cascade began.
With just an innocent look.
Followed by a lingering gaze.
Followed by a single thought.

There’s a lesson there.
(I’ll put it at the end.)

But about the fruit flies…

What is their depth perception?

How close can they focus? How far?

Are they afraid of me?

Prowling the VBS Front Lines

Wherein I scope out the Summer Bible School venue for Hopewell Mennonite Church

While the building was quiet and empty,
And my soul was needing a break,
I gat me o’er to the edifice so dainty,

A yellow apple, a yellow rose, and an impulse heeded

My sister is an English-Spanish-English (or is it the other way around?) interpreter at Silverton Hospital.

I heard she was feeling ill on the job today. (OK, OK; I read it on Facebook, but that’s a mere technicality.)

A short while later, upon gazing out the window, I noticed again the lone yellow rose perched atop its bush.
