June 27, 2021 — that’s the day I, along with (a bunch of?) other undisclosed recipients, received an email from Peter Turner. It had a lengthy letter from him. In my reply to him, I included these two short paragraphs:

I very much appreciate your concern and your teaching and your dedication to communicating it.

You addressed some issues and made some points that I’ve wanted to write about for the last year or more. But then I’ve had lots I’ve wanted to write about… Alas (and/or fortunately), most of it doesn’t ever get done. So I’m glad you tackled this subject!

I secured Peter’s permission to publish his letter here for the open Web. Read it. You just might find in it the very something you’re needing for these days and these times.

Covid-19 Pandemic: We Face Far More Than a Virus!

Jon Kropf warns about deception, coronavirus, vaccines, truth, and end times.

Jon Kropf wrote a piece earlier this year which he titled “We Are Facing More Than a Virus.” I don’t know when he wrote it — I received it the evening of March 6, 2021. After securing Jon’s permission, I published it online the next day.

I’m using this post here at Ain’t Complicated to highlight some chunks from his lengthy article. I link to the article itself at the end of this post. I urge you to read it.

I am asking myself the question, “Should I accept a coronavirus vaccine if it is offered to me? What if it is made obligatory by the government?” We have been praying about this. It has been a prayer request on Wednesday evenings. Maybe it seems odd that I would open this discussion about deception with, the garden of Eden and a coronavirus vaccine. Many of you know I work in healthcare. I do not present this as an expert voice. Let me explain that I know very little about vaccines and have not done extensive research on this subject. In short, my understanding of the science behind the 2020 events and the various vaccines is minimal. To be honest with you, I don’t really know who I can trust to tell me the truth in medical journals or on media sites.

Faith Builders Virtual Choir: Still With Thee

A classic hymn, beautifully sung in the midst of the novel coronavirus pandemic

Because of the restrictions levied in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, Faith Builders Educational Programs had to cancel their choir tour (among many other things). Our son Andrew is a student there. He had the idea of assembling a virtual choir to sing a song to present to their director as a surprise.

He had plenty of fellow students contribute their voices to the effort. He spent dozens of hours bringing all their audio and video together. The result is beautiful! Thank you, Andrew and crew. 🙂 Read it all

Hopewell Mennonite Church: Two More Funerals

We have our own cemetery here at Hopewell Mennonite Church. But we rarely have funerals in our meeting house for capacity reasons. Yesterday afternoon, though, we hosted the Oregon funeral for former member Marion Schrock who died in Indiana. And this afternoon we had the funeral for Roger Jones, one of our newest members.

The Fog Below: Thoughts of Mortality

Ponderings from within an overwhelming sense of creeping sadness.

Early this morning, I sat in the kitchen, propped — elbow on table, chin in cupped hand. I stared, unfocused, out the window. Thinking. Remembering yesterday…

clouds in the sky, fog in the river bottom, clouds and fog in my head — I gazed out the window, thinking…

Late yesterday afternoon. Barely Wednesday in the week. Rocking news upon shocking news.

A friend in our congregation left this life. A friend to our congregation fell backward into a service pit, breaking his hip and fracturing his back. A third friend in our congregation learned of his brother’s terminal brain tumors. A fourth friend, just recently of our congregation, was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Four cases! Far more than that many friends! All since early Monday morning!

An overwhelming sense of creeping sadness. Of deep ache.

And my wife and I struggling with our own health issues.

So now it was early this morning. I had just read the first 11 verses of Psalm 34. Here, read them… Read it all
