Fog, Fog, Burn Away!

I stood at the kitchen sink.

Early this morning — just before (or was it just after?) five.

Carefully slurping hot coffee.

Looking out the window.

Drearily considering the circumstances.

Pleading with God.

Trying to have faith.

(Drearily, God, faith — is something out of place there?!) 😯

When I noticed what I was seeing:

Fog in the Pudding River bottoms

Somewhere down there in the Pudding River bottoms are cows.

In the fog.

They can’t see clearly.

For all they know, the whole world is foggy, bleary, dreary.

But the rising sun will fix that in short order.

Can I believe that God sees me and my fog in remotely similar fashion?

Can I believe that the Risen Son will fix my problems?

Sure.

I’m thankful.

Psalm 88 Fits

I got to Psalm 88 in my Spanish Bible reading this morning.

Wow! Talk about a shoe that fits!

Here are just the first three verses:

1 O LORD God of my salvation, I have cried day and night before thee:

2 Let my prayer come before thee: incline thine ear unto my cry;

3 For my soul is full of troubles: and my life draweth nigh unto the grave.

As usual, I made a wallpaper to go with it:

Llegue mi oración -- Salmo 88.2 -- Psalm 88:2

Thank You!

You’re not entitled, so be thankful!

Who has encouraged you throughout your life?

Be grateful to each and every person who has said things to you that have given you the inner strength to do what you might not have done without that encouragement.

There are projects and courses of action that we might not have followed through on. We might have been ready to give up. We were feeling discouraged. We might have thought that we were wasting our time and effort. We might not have realized that we had the necessary skills, talents and intelligence. Someone believed in our abilities. Someone was willing to tell us that we should continue going further. Be grateful for what those people have done for you.

There’s too much ungratefulness goin’ on out there.

Because there’s too much unthankfulness goin’ on in here.

So develop a thankful heart.

Above all, love God!
