Scott Brown and Abortion

Many “pro-life” leaders are applauding the victory of Scott Brown Republican to the United States Senate in a special election held this past week in Massachusetts. In all honesty, his victory is at best, a hollow one for the preborn. Let’s take an objective, non-partisan look at Scott Brown’s record and rhetoric on prenatal child-killing as recorded at the website “OnTheIssues.org”:

Loopy Virginia

This isn’t just loopy. It’s sick. Evil, actually.

A loophole in state law is preventing Campbell County investigators from charging a woman they say killed her newborn baby.

Deputies were called to a home in the 1200 block of Lone Jack Road in Rustburg around 11:00a.m. Friday. The caller said a woman in her early 20s was in labor. When deputies arrived, they discovered the baby had actually been born around 1:00a.m., about ten hours earlier. Investigators say the baby was already dead when deputies got there.

Investigators tell WSLS the baby’s airway was still blocked. They say the baby was under bedding and had been suffocated by her mother. Investigators say because the mother and baby were still connected by the umbilical cord and placenta, state law does not consider the baby to be a separate life. Therefore, the mother cannot be charged.

“In the state of Virginia as long as the umbilical cord is attached and the placenta is still in the mother, if the baby comes out alive the mother can do whatever she wants to with that baby to kill it,” says Investigator Tracy Emerson. “She could shoot the baby, stab the baby. As long as it’s still attached to her in some form by umbilical cord or something it’s no crime in the state of Virginia.”

The Campbell County Sheriff’s Office and Commonwealth’s Attorney’s office worked unsuccessfully to get the law changed after another baby died in the county in a similar case. Emerson says they asked two delegates and one state senator to take the issue up in the General Assembly. He says the three lawmakers refused because they felt the issue was too close to the abortion issue.

Can’t touch infanticide because it’s too close to abortion. 😯

So what are they lacking? A spine? A heart? A conscience?

Maybe it’s a moral compass.

And compassionate morality.

Truly we live in depraved, perilous times.

In Mexico’s state of Veracruz, human life begins at conception:

On Nov. 16, 2009 the legislature of the Mexican coastal state of Veracruz passed a law declaring that life begins at conception and ends at natural death.

Veracruz now becomes the 17th state in Mexico to criminalize abortion in a string of hotly contested and reactive measures set off by Mexico City’s April 2007 legalization of abortion.

The reforms to the Veracruz State Constitution include a last-minute stipulation by the National Action Party PAN that women who illegally obtain abortions can avoid jail time by accepting medical and psychological treatment.

Well, anyway, I’m thankful to believe that human life begins at conception.

Another usher came in and told the congregation to remain seated, then escorted Tiller’s wife, Jeanne, out. “When she got to the back doors, we heard her scream, and so we knew something bad had happened….”

Oh the pain that woman must have felt…and continues to feel! May she find in Christ the comfort and peace and healing she needs. And the power and will to forgive.

She is suffering because of someone else’s choice. Someone was pro-choice…and made the choice to murder someone who surely preferred to live. And the victim wasn’t consulted about that preference.

OK, the above news excerpt was at the end of page two of the story. Here’s how the story begins:

George R. Tiller, the nation’s most prominent provider of controversial late-term abortions, was shot and killed yesterday in the lobby of his Lutheran church in Wichita, where he was serving as an usher.

[…]

Tiller, 67, had performed abortions since the 1970s. He ran the Women’s Health Care Services clinic, one of three in the nation to perform abortions after the point when a fetus is considered able to survive outside the womb.

So Mr. Tiller slaughtered (butchered, if you will) people for some thirty years…maybe longer. If he averaged only one such murder a day, that’s roughly 11,000 over a lengthy career.

I wonder how many he had scheduled for tomorrow.

And I wonder if any of those women will change their plans as a result of Mr. Tiller’s killing.

And I wonder what the abortion doctor learned at the judgment seat of Christ.

What he did in the practice of his evil is abominable.

What was done to him today by his killer is also evil and abominable.

How God must grieve!

Will God’s people also grieve?

If so, for whom? And what about?

Now, may the God of grace and truth and holiness find able-bodied men and women through whom to live out those attributes.

I say, “Yes, Lord, yes!”

The White House quietly announced on Friday that President Barack Obama is starting the process of overturning protections President Bush put in place to make sure medical staff and centers are not forced to do abortions.

I checked the White House site but didn’t find any mention of it yet.
