After being called a sponge, I had in mind to do a blog post on the subject.
I’ve lost interest.
So I’ll just say a bit.
- If I am a sponge because I “sponge off” other people, then I need to change.
- If I am a sponge because I tend to retain well what I hear, then maybe it’s OK to be a sponge.
- If I am a sponge because I have to be squeezed before I’ll give to others, then I need to change.
What is a positive thing to being a sponge, anyway?
And should I be hurt or insulted at being branded one? I guess not. 🙂 I’ll just take it as a compliment.
“Good idea, Mark!”
Actually, maybe you should tell me what kind of sponge you think I am. Or maybe not.
Better yet, what does a good Christian sponge do and look like?
Oh, and for an extended postscript, here’s a bit of what a dictionary has to say on the subject of Sponge:
- a person or thing that absorbs something freely: His mind is a sponge gathering historical data.
- a person who persistently borrows from or lives at the expense of others; sponger; parasite.
- Informal . a drunkard.
Oh. Great! 😯
