Somewhere I have recovery CDs for my IBM ThinkPad R51e.
Somewhere I have a birth certificate.
Somewhere I have an expired US passport.
Somewhere in a box. Or boxes.
Or in a paper tray. Or in a pile of paper.
I have hunted for them before. I must do so again.
I hate being disorganized. If only we hadn’t moved so many times in the last twenty years!
Now I must decide whether to launch today’s version of my search in my pseudo-office or in the garage or in the attic. Thankfully, we don’t have a basement at this place.
Oh. But we do have a shed.
Or in the shed.
😥
Will God reward my search today as He hasn’t before?
I’ll try to remember to update this post tonight.
Update: WooHoo!!! I effectively suspended my search at 11:41 this morning. That’s when I found my missing birth certificate. Praise God! Finding it reduces the urgency of finding my expired passport down into the 0 range. I plan to resume my hunt for the CDs (or is it a DVD?) on Thursday.
I can SO identify with this!! Praying that your search will be successful.
Kindred losers, is that what we are? 😆
Thanks for your prayers, Peter!
Do you really need the recovery discs? You can just use an XP CD and then download the Thinkpad drivers.
Well, I’ve considered just going with a Dell XP CD I have or borrowing a generic XP CD, with the latter being the smarter route, no doubt.
But trying to get all the drivers seems like such a headache for a techno-dumbbell like me. Besides, there’s the matter of the special ThinkPad software….
I don’t know. I just don’t know. (Being ignorant is the pits. 😯 )
You’ll probably have trouble with activation if you use a Dell CD.
Here’s a good place to start with drivers and software, straight from Lenovo: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/research/hints-or-tips/detail.page?&LegacyDocID=MIGR-61596
Thank you, sir. I appreciate the caution and the link!
Maybe tomorrow I should resume the hunt, which has been suspended ever since I suspended it.
I, too, can identify. If my head were not attached I would lose it! Oh, wait, some people think I already lost my mind.
And it’s funny that we always find things in the last place we look.
Some people, please report… 😉
