My road.
Phone in hand.
Also their lives.
And mine. And mine. (No, I’m not repeating myself; that’s an optical “illusion.”)
Last week, I asked if there’s anyone left who just drives when they’re behind the wheel.
Today, I’m wondering when smartphone ownership came with a membership to the Flat Earth Society.
I own a pre-smart phone.
I used to use it in pre-smart ways. 🙁 Like talking and texting while driving. 😳
Then the law in Oregon changed.
Then I read some stuff online that I believed. 😯
Now I’m smarter. (My phone’s still the dumb pre-smart variety.)
Oh. Here’s where I got the stuff in the pink box above: Driving and talking on cell phones, the sequel: science vs. convenience (it includes a foreign-language video at the end).
Having said all that, I still wish I had the option to answer my phone while driving.
Actually, I do.
But now I’m smarter.
For which I’m glad.
And so should you. 🙂

Thanks for setting a good example–changing your behavior (in ways you’d rather not) for the sake of others, after carefully considering the evidence.
Thank you for your support, Brer. Goertzen.
Sometimes we must change our behavior in ways we’d rather not to avoid having experiences we’d rather not. Other times we change our behavior because it’s the right thing to do morally, ethically, legally, and/or spiritually. At times we even change our behavior because we are either spineless or chemtrail-logged.
