As I Was Told, I Asked

To ask or not to ask. Now that can be a real puzzler sometimes.

Especially when the “target” for the request is God Almighty Himself.

Why should that be such a puzzler? I guess I don’t know.

Whatever the case, Tuesday morning I posted on my devotional blog:

In my prayer time this morning, as I wrestled again with my overwhelming need, I remembered what one of my ministers told me recently: “Just ask.”

He based his statement on what Jesus said.

So in my praying, I dared ask. Again. Specifically. Wearily. Hopefully. Doubtfully?

The rest: “Ask,” He Said

That was early in the morning. The day progressed, unwound, and ended — I didn’t get that for which I asked.

Should I keep asking?

Though I’m not sure what the answer should be, I do know this: I still believe in and trust God’s power, love, and wisdom.

I am so thankful that God’s ability to do something isn’t the only criteria He uses in deciding whether or not to do it. I am so grateful that His love for me and His wisdom about life factor in also.

He does all things well!

Oh, and about asking…?

“I say to you, though he will not rise and give to him because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence he will rise and give him as many as he needs” (Luke 11:8 NKJV).

What do you think — does that fit in this blog post?
