Cyberian Scrabble

Private

I understand that thread finally locked up over at WorldMagBlog.

Perhaps this will work as a substitute for it.

Here are the rules:

  • We’ll start off with the word loll.
  • The first player should change one letter of loll and post it in the comment section.
  • Subsequent players should work off the last word published in the comment section.
  • You can’t add letters.
  • You can’t use foreign (or foul!) languages.
  • You can only change one letter.
  • You can’t repeat a word already used.

Why loll as the starting word? Because that’s the last word used at WorldMagBlog. 🙂

Rule Update: Rearranging the order of existing letters does not constitute changing a letter.

Name Update: This is now Cyberian Scramble, but I’ll leave the post title the same.

Date/Time Update: This post was originally published on June 1 (2009) at 8:30 am Pacific. These updates are June 5 at 8:11 am Pacific.

  1. So, Mark. We are competing now? I restarted the Scrabble thread over at my blog, but continued with the 2129 revious words. I suppose we can see who gets the most visitors, though I belive it will be just one or two from WMB.

Since you are starting afresh, that means any other word is game. Along as you don’t charge a TOLL, this will be fun!

  2. I guess I am a FOOL for challenging the blog host. Not to nitpick, but doesn’t using plop after pool change more than one letter? I hope I don’t FLOP in so doing. (There, you can decide which of my words to follow after, since it is your blog!)

  3. As far as I can tell, I changed one letter (ie, o) in going from pool to plop.

But perhaps I misunderstand how this game is to be played. Does changing a letter’s location count as changing the letter itself?

I assumed not, since this is Scrabble.

But like I said, perhaps I misunderstand how it’s played.

  4. Understandable, Mark. The understanding we followed on the original is that moving a letter counts as changing it, thus pool to plop was considered a two letter change. However, this is your game, go for it if you want!

Sorry for making a FLAP about it.
