Need for Speed

How do Christians justify driving over the posted speed limit?

Let’s see what kind of a list we can build here.

I’ll start the list with three excuses explanations:

  • “Not keeping up with the traffic flow poses a hazard.”
  • “The speed in this zone is illogically low.”
  • “A police officer told me they’re lenient on this stretch of highway.”

  1. Sorry – I can’t justify this question with an answer 🙂 I will not say that I have never gone over the speed limit because I have – but that doesn’t make it right. The only time I have gone over the speed limit on purpose was when I was driving in a construction zone and it was nighttime. An emergency vehicle came up behind me with his lights on and their was no shoulder to pull over on and it was a one lane road. They flashed their headlights so I sped up until I found a place to pull over safely. I would say that this is the only way I would justify speeding.

  2. I sure wish I could think of a doozy, but me and others go round and round on this issue, especially with their insistance of your first excuse. As I was recently in a roll over accident, it makes me all the more want to drive UNDER the speed limit. Most of my driving is country roads, so not too many folk to mind.
