Wednesday evening, the brother in charge of prayer meeting at our home congregation read 2 Corinthians 1.

When he opened up the meeting for comments from the audience, I noted that I was impressed again by verses 3 and 4. God, being the God of all comfort, is well able to comfort anyone. Yet He wants to use His people to comfort others with the comfort which they themselves have received from God. Amazing!

Hence, this post’s title. Since you have reaped God’s comfort, sow it in the lives of others needing comfort.

Well, then, that same evening, just before going to bed, I read from a little blue book I have on our headboard, Daily Light on the Daily Path.

Is his mercy clean gone for ever? —Psa. 77:8.

His mercy endureth for ever. —The Lord is longsuffering, and of great mercy. —Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity? . . . he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy. He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sin into the depths of the sea. —Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us.

Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.

A merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God to make reconciliation for the sins of the people. For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.

I got the message that night: The God of all comfort comforts me then expects me to comfort others needing comfort with the same comfort I have received from Him.
